Storm Engine Privacy Policy
In short: Storm Engine does not ask for your name, email, contacts, photos, location or any account password. Your progress is saved on your phone. If online features are on, the game uses Unity's game services for leaderboards, tournaments, cloud save and island visits. Rewarded ads only play when you choose to watch one, and they are personalized only if you allow it. You can turn online features off and delete your online data at any time in Settings > Privacy.
This policy explains what data the mobile game Storm Engine (the "game") handles. The game is published by Moonbit Studios ("we", "us"). Questions: studiosmoonbit@gmail.com.
1. Data kept on your phone
Your game progress and settings (language, sound, graphics, reminders and your ad choice) are stored on your device. They never leave it unless online features are on (see below). Uninstalling the game or using Settings > Save > Reset progress removes them.
2. Online features (Unity Gaming Services)
Leaderboards, the weekly tournament, cloud save and visiting other players' islands are provided by Unity Gaming Services, operated by Unity Technologies. When online features are on:
| Data | Why | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| An anonymous player ID, created automatically (no email or password) | To keep your cloud save and scores together | Us and Unity |
| The player name you choose (a short tag is added by Unity) | Shown next to your scores | Everyone, on the leaderboards |
| Your game progress (cloud save) | To restore your progress | Us and Unity |
| Your island layout | So other players can visit your island | Everyone, when they visit |
| Tournament storms (the build you used and the boosts you fired) and scores | The server replays each storm to check the score is fair, then ranks it | Scores and a build summary: everyone; replays: us and Unity |
| Technical data needed to connect (IP address, device and app version) | To deliver the services and keep them secure | Unity |
You can switch all of this off with Settings > Privacy > Online features; the game then works fully offline. Settings > Privacy > Delete my online data deletes your player account together with the data the game servers keep for it (cloud save, island and leaderboard scores). You can also email us to ask for deletion; step by step: Delete your Storm Engine data. Unity's own practices are described in the Unity Game Player and App User Privacy Policy.
Fair daily rewards. While online features are on, the game also asks a Google web server (www.google.com) for the current time, so that changing the phone's date cannot unlock daily rewards early. This is an ordinary web request that carries no game or personal data; like any web request it reveals your IP address to Google, which handles it under the Google Privacy Policy.
Player names. Player names are the only text other players see; there is no chat. Names must not be offensive, hateful or sexual, or impersonate someone. The game rejects offensive names and hides them from other players. To report a name that got through, email us with the name and where you saw it; we remove names that break these rules and may reset or remove the player's leaderboard entries.
3. Rewarded ads (Unity LevelPlay)
The game shows only optional rewarded ads: an ad plays when you tap a button to earn a reward. Ads are served through Unity LevelPlay and the ad networks it works with (such as Unity Ads). To show and measure ads, these partners may collect your device's advertising ID, device and app information, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and how you interact with ads.
The first time the game starts, it asks whether ads may be personalized to your interests. If you say no, you still get every reward and see non-personalized ads. You can change your choice in Settings > Privacy > Personalized ads, and you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. Details: Unity Game Player and App User Privacy Policy.
4. Purchases
Optional in-app purchases are processed by Google Play. We never see your payment details; we only receive a confirmation of what was bought so the game can deliver it. See the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Reminders
If you allow notifications, the game schedules reminders (daily gift, tournament ending) on your phone. They are created on the device and no data is sent anywhere for them. You can turn them off in the game or in your phone's settings.
6. Sharing and ratings
If you tap Share, your phone's share sheet opens with a message you can edit; the game does not see who you share with. Ratings are handled by Google Play.
7. Children
Storm Engine is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has used the online features, contact us and we will delete the data.
8. How long data is kept
Online data is kept while your player account exists and is deleted when you delete it in the game or ask us to. Past weekly rankings are archived by the leaderboard service; if any of your entries remain there after you delete your account, email us and we will remove them. Service providers keep data as described in their own policies.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or state laws in the US), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent. Most of this can be done directly in the game; for anything else, email us. We do not sell your personal information.
10. Security
Data sent by the game travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, but we and our providers take reasonable measures to protect it.
11. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
